[Roxas would be very confused if he knew someone was watching him eat so intently. It would make him want to eat more properly, get less food bits everywhere. Sora, you're a strange one.]
Hm? Just a couple of years now. I moved here during freshman year.
[Has it really just been a few years? High school was going to be over before he knew it.]
We're here. Don't mind all the shoes, the rack we had broke. [He shoves the rest of his sandwich in his mouth, digging some keys out and opening the door. There was indeed a lot of shoes. Or at least a lot of heavy looking boots that Roxas casually steps over before taking his own off.] Can you lock the door when you come in? My brother likes to keep it locked even when someone's home.
Not really. My brother just... he's bad at throwing his things out. And he keeps saying he'll do it himself.
[Seriously. It was getting to be a pain when it's dark and he trips over the shoes. Roxas nods as he looks back at Sora.]
Yeah. The dining room table... is more of a workbench. [Which Sora will see as they walk past the kitchen/dining room. At least the kitchen is clean. They head up the stairs and Roxas opens his room door. It's not too fancily decorated, more on the cozy side, with some random stuffed animals scattered about. There were some stacks of books and video games near the TV, which was way too close to the bed. The desk at least was big enough for two. Stars were rather easy to find, especially the ones plastered all over the ceiling. Glow in the dark, maybe?]
I'll go grab a chair from downstairs. Just make yourself comfortable
[Sora's gaze wanders about the room. He has a faint smile as he observes the little things like the stuffed animals and the little plastic stars littering the walls and ceilings. He always figured Roxas would collect such sweet little things. He's a sweet soul. and he could see the stars somewhat from outside through the window sometimes]
Okay, I'll be right here.
[When Roxas leaves Sora can't help but feel his hands shaking. This is Roxas' room and everything smells like him. He wanders over to the bed and picks up one of the stuffed animals and brings it to his nose. Instantly he's blushing deeply. It smells so much like Roxas.]
This is Roxas...
[He wants to take the animal... If only as a token of how perfect this day is going. Quickly and quietly he stuffs it into an empty pocket of his bag. Before Roxas returns.
[Roxas went downstairs and grabbed a chair. Then he stopped and grabbed some snacks, very carefully carrying the chair upstairs. He sets it down and opens the door.]
Sorry. I grabbed some other things. [And now to carefully bring the chair in without dropping anything. Sora better be glad that Roxas won't notice the stuffed animal being gone for some time. Not till the weekend at least when he makes sure they're all on his bed again.]
Do you wanna use my laptop to look things up? I took some notes while reading at lunch.
[Hence no eating. Getting a head start on the project seemed more important.]
[Sora gives a quick nod and seems to be smiling innocently. He'll take the laptop and open it up to start his part of the research. He'd been much too busy texting Roxas today to start his part of the project early.]
You really got started during lunch break? You didn't need to do that, you know.
I wanted to. The guys I usually eat lunch with were in trouble, so I was by myself.
[Finally remembering to, Roxas plugs his phone into the charger. He lets it boot up to make sure to turn the background apps off before it would be left alone. A small noise pings to let him know he had a message.
Scratch that: a lot of messages.
Roxas stares at his phone as he sees the amount of messages Sora left him. No one's ever texted him that much before. A quick check shows it wasn't a background running app that ran the phone dry, it was literally Sora. Did he really have that much of an overeager project partner? this doesn't seem obsessive just yet, just excited.]
Sora... did you think I wouldn't be there after school? Waiting for you?
Err- I ... [Sora's face lights up with a blush as he stares from the phone to Roxas.]
I didn't want you to forget about me. Are you mad? [He swallows a breath and fidgets with his pen.] I was really excited when you said we could be partners, so I thought it would be okay to keep checking in. Then I thought maybe you changed your mind.
[There's checking in and then there's this. Yet Roxas can't find himself capable of getting mad. Sora, do you not have friends? Or if you do, do you do this to them, too? Roxas would ask, but it seemed a little rude. He sighs with a soft smile as he sets his phone down.]
If I had changed my mind, I would told you instead of ignoring you. It's not really nice to ghost someone.
I don't get it. Why get to know me better if we're just working on a project together? It's not like knowing what I'm like will help with it...
[Does Sora have an ulterior motive?............. no, seems too innocent for it. Roxas wants to trust Sora enough to not feel he needs to be suspicious of anything. Though wasn't it the cute ones people needed to be careful of?
[Wouldn't it happen that way? The project is over, they get their grade, and Sora would move on? Roxas isn't going to hold onto the hope they could be friends if in the end if all Sora wants is a good grade even with with the almost borderline obsessive texting.
That line of thinking is stopped when Sora looks at him.]
... no, not really.
[It's honest. Roxas is confused. There's something going on here he's not picking up on.]
[Sora sucks in a small breath as he works up the courage to say something properly. Roxas really doesn't know just how much Sora loves him, does he? He should probably be more clear... Especially if Roxas has to love him back.
His fingers drift across to Roxas' knee. He trails his fingers there gently.]
[How would Roxas even know that? He didn't know Sora existed till today. Sora might feel like a bright person and just radiate like the sun, but the sun can be easily hidden. Roxas doesn't tend to look for someone sunny unless he has a reason to. Sunny people could easily burn you.
Then there's fingers on his knee. The reaction to that is a deep blush and a shiver. Sora, you're rather bold.]
You do? [He swallows hard and stares at the other.] Why?
What do you mean, Why? [Sora laughs softly, teasingly. It seems like such a silly question to ask. Isn't it so, so, so obvious?
Sora's fingers trail up Roxas' thigh slightly and he leans forward.]
You're amazing, Roxas. You're smart and funny. You always look like you have something you want to say. You always work hard and you're always sweet to people that deserve it. You collect toy animals and like plastic stars. And your eyes are the prettiest ones I've ever seen.
[That is a lot to take in... with how Sora is acting, the fingers on his thighs, Roxas has to admit to himself that he's having a hell of a time trying to keep his mind straight. This morning he woke up thinking it was going to be a normal day. Nothing like this could ever be imagined, even a confession seeming far fetched.]
.....
[He glances away to try and collect his thoughts.]
None of that except the animals and stars sounds like me at all. I study hard because the teachers think I'm a troublemaker. I don't believe in being mean to people unless they deserve it. [As for always having something to say? That's more of a temper and having opinions. It was just easier just to stay quiet and observe. And he's not funny.] And my eyes are just blue. Nothing special about them.
[The movement is swift in which Sora moves his hand from Roxas' thigh to his cheek. So quick that it seems almost desperate. He brushes his thumb over his skin gently, knuckles brushing blond locks as he does so.]
Everything about you is special. Don't say things like that.
[Sora's eyes are a bit wild. But there's that underlying love behind it all too.]
Even if you're trying to prove the teachers wrong, you're still smart. And you're fair to people. That's good. Why are you being so hard on yourself?
[Eyes snapping back to Sora's, the hand on his cheek makes Roxas feel an almost painful flip in his stomach. He can't tell if the fluttering in his chest is from fight or flight response or potential happiness. Likely a mix of both. Sora is so earnest it's terrifying.]
I.... don't know how else to be?
[Being hard on himself was just something he's always done. Knowing there was better people out there was always being thrown around, so how could someone think well of themselves in that regard?]
[Sora frowns. It's not good for Roxas to think the way he's thinking. Not when Roxas is so perfect and amazing just the way he is. Sora wouldn't change anything about him. But how can he convince Roxas of all that?]
You're perfect the way you are, you don't ever have to change.
[Wasn't there anything about himself that Sora didn't like? Or was he just content with how he was?
Roxas doesn't get it. He really doesn't get it. How could someone who is a complete stranger find him perfect. Or expect people to never change. With a sigh he leans into Sora's hand.]
I find that hard to believe. Perfection is hard. I'd rather be imperfect.
Why? Does it make you uncomfortable? I'm not perfect, Sora.
[Far from it. Far, far from it.]
I didn't know your name until I asked someone else. I skipped my third period because I didn't want to do math by pretending I didn't feel well so I could sleep in the nurses office. My room's usually messy but my brother bugged me to clean it. And the stars? I'm afraid of the dark. That all makes me far from perfect.
[Stop it. Stop it. S͛̆̄̍tͭ͢o͌ͩ̔̇̊̾p̀̀̑̓̑͋̔͜ ̾͂ͮ̉͝i̔̆̔̊t̷̏̓ͥ̈̎ͥ̐̚]
I don't want to hear those things... Roxas...
[Sora's hand slips from Roxas' cheek and down to his chest. He wants to feel his heartbeat. He wants to count how many times it thumps. His fingers curl into the fabric of Roxas' shirt.]
[A nagging feeling that maybe this was turning into a dangerous situation sat in the back of Roxas' mind. Sora wasn't happy. Sora could be potentially harmful.
Roxas is pushing that down as much as he can, wanting to give Sora the benefit of the doubt. This is... this would be fine. Yeah. Maybe. Sora wouldn't do anything. It's hard not to look nervous.]
You're going to keep saying that, aren't you. [He sighed, looking down at the hand curled into his shirt.] And nothing I do or say will ever change your mind?

It makes it look like your house is full of lots of people.
[He laughs a bit softly. It's nice to see that Roxas seems to have a big family. He's jealous...
Very jealous.
... Jealous.]
We're going to your room?

You say that like after the project you won't want to talk to me anymore...
